Overview
Selman Brunch at Le Pavillon is the Sunday ritual of Selman Marrakech, the family-owned palace hotel on the road to Amizmiz, just outside the city. Le Pavillon is the hotel's open-air restaurant, set in the Spring Garden at the far end of the long pool and shaded by carved mashrabiya screens, with its tables facing the paddocks of the hotel's stud farm, where purebred Arabian horses graze a few metres away. Every Sunday it hosts one of the most celebrated brunches in Marrakech. A sumptuous and varied buffet fills the garden, a Cuban duo plays through the afternoon, and at some point during the meal the hotel's Arabian horses are paraded through the grounds, a moment that turns brunch into spectacle without ever feeling staged. The horses are not decoration. The Bennani Smires family built Selman around two passions, hospitality and horses, and the stables, designed like the rest of the hotel by Jacques Garcia, are the living heart of the property. Watching the horses move across the paddocks from a sunlit table is a Marrakech moment that no other brunch in the city can offer. Booking ahead is wise.
