Bliss Terra Janna - Pool

Out past the Route de Fes, where Marrakech gives way to open country, the pools at Bliss Terra Janna sit inside more than five hectares of garden, three separate stretches of water spread far enough apart that each feels like its own clearing. The architecture around them is built from the earth it stands on, rammed walls the colour of the land, and the water reads cool and dark against the ochre and the green. One pool mirrors a long arcaded facade across a still basin; another opens onto lawn and palms, loungers set back under the trees. The day moves slowly here. Mornings are for the first swim while the surface is still glass, the only sound birds in the planting; by afternoon the loungers fill and a poolside table sends out lunch and cold drinks. There is room to disappear, to pick a different pool from the day before, to read in the shade and lose the hours. The scale is the opposite of a city plunge pool: this is swimming as a slow day in the country. It belongs to the wider retreat, gardens and spa and two restaurants a few steps away, but the water is the reason to give the day over to it. Far enough from the centre that the Medina feels like another country, close enough that you could still be there by evening if you wanted, though by then few people do.
