Overview
Beside the La Mamounia hotel, and within its grounds, a building of its own houses Le Grand Casino La Mamounia, a large casino open until seven in the morning. More than 150 slot machines and electronic roulettes run from noon, while the twenty gaming tables open at 9 pm. The tables keep to the traditional games: American roulette and blackjack, plus Ultimate Texas Hold'em with a progressive jackpot and Three Card Poker. Entry is for over-18s with a valid ID, and non-players are welcome too. From 8 pm, tracksuits, shorts and sandals are not allowed. The casino's restaurant, La Palme d'Or, sits where the modern city meets the medina. The Carré des As is a set menu of three courses with a choice at each, and dishes such as herb fish goujonnettes with lemon emulsion or a gratinated beef hachis parmentier. Couscous is served on Fridays, and every Thursday brings a themed buffet. The lounge bar sits under a historic glass roof, a relaxed place for a cocktail or a tea with friends.
