The Harvest Festival returns to Marrakech from 28 October to 1 November for its eleventh edition, built around Ri'āya, "to shepherd, to tend". Across five days and several venues in the Medina and Sidi Ghanem, the programme brings together exhibitions, talks, workshops, a souk and a concert.
Ri'āya is the Arabic word most often translated simply as "care". Its root, ر-ع-ي, also gives rā'ī, the shepherd, and the festival approaches care as inseparable from the act of tending: to a flock, to land, to one another. The edition celebrates the artists, artisans, thinkers, storytellers and rural stewards who sustain the region's culture, building on the High Atlas Cultural Landscapes programme of the Global Diversity Foundation, which founded the festival.
The programme
