From 18 September, MACAAL presents a new iteration of "Le temps d'un battement de cil" (In the Blink of an Eye), a solo exhibition by the Moroccan photographer and filmmaker Daoud Aoulad-Syad, in the museum's Artist Room. Curated by Farah Maakel, with scenography by Sara Ayoub, it is on view until 29 November.
For more than 45 years, Daoud Aoulad-Syad has developed a photographic practice deeply rooted in Moroccan popular culture. Street performers, travelling entertainers, fairground workers and ordinary people are at the centre of his work, in a visual narrative attentive to everyday gestures, encounters and the subtle forms of presence that animate public space.
Known for his highly expressive black-and-white analogue photography, the artist reveals here a less frequently exhibited side of his practice, through a selection of colour works.
The exhibition was first shown from 17 June to 31 August 2026 at the Galerie Delacroix of the French Institute of Morocco in Tangier, during the first edition of the Photo Tanger festival, as part of MACAAL's Hors les Murs programme.
