Overview

Les Bains d'Orient occupies a riad on Arset Aouzal in the Bab Doukkala quarter, between Dar El Bacha and the neighbourhood mosque. The interior is elegant and refined, with traditional Moroccan decoration, candlelit rooms, and muted tones that settle the mood quickly after the bustle of the street outside. A rooftop terrace, where guests are welcomed with mint tea and biscuits before treatments, adds a layer that most Medina spas don't have. The hammam menu is well structured and clearly tiered. The Traditional Hammam is a focused 35-minute session: black soap scrub with kessa glove, shower, and argan oil moisturising. The Sublime adds a rhassoul and plant wrapping. The Etoile du Sud layers on a hair treatment with argan oil and a beautifying clay mask. The top-tier Hammam Les Bains d'Orient runs 55 minutes and includes a face and body ghassoul mask, argan hair treatment, and scented argan oil hydration. Where the spa distinguishes itself is in the combined rituals. The Trésor d'Orient pairs a 40-minute hammam with the signature Moroccan massage, performed on a mattress on the floor, which is powerful and traditional. The Rêve d'Orient adds a pochon (warm herb pouch) massage after a ghassoul hammam. The Cérémonial, available only in the mornings, is the full experience: hammam, an hour-long massage, a soak in the oriental bath with rose milk, and a facial massage. Those oriental baths are a distinctive feature. Two rooms are fitted with antique copper bathtubs where guests can soak in rose-infused milk, a nod to the bathing rituals of the ancient Orient. Facials use prickly pear oil for anti-ageing work and locally sourced ingredients for hydration treatments. The spa also sells its own branded products, including oils and kessa gloves. Guests leave with the glove used during their hammam, a practical and hygienic touch. Between treatments, the rooftop terrace offers a quiet spot to sit in the sun and let the Medina hum at a distance.
