Heritage Spa occupies a restored riad in the Bab Doukkala quarter, down one of the narrow derbs that wind away from Dar El Bacha toward the quieter residential edges of the Medina. The building is small and intimate, with treatment rooms spread across its floors, each finished in traditional zellige tilework and tadelakt plaster, lit by Moroccan lanterns that cast soft geometric patterns across the walls. The atmosphere is warm and unhurried, closer to visiting someone's well-kept home than checking into a spa. The hammam ritual follows the Moroccan sequence faithfully: steam to open the pores, a full exfoliation with black soap scented with eucalyptus and bitter orange, then a deep-cleansing mask of rhassoul clay enriched with seven plants. The upgraded version adds a rose clay wrap, a foot scrub with ground argan and rice powder, and an argan and ylang-ylang hair treatment. The massage menu is thorough without being overwhelming: a holistic option begins with a brief diagnostic to identify tension areas, desired pressure, and essential oil preferences. Hot stone, four-hand, and targeted tension recovery treatments round out the list, all using natural plant-based products built around argan oil. Facials draw on prickly pear, spirulina, laminaria, and kaolin clay, leaning on local botanicals rather than imported brands. Heritage Spa now operates three addresses in Bab Doukkala, but the original at Arset Aouzal n°40 remains the most established. Between treatments, guests are offered mint tea, pastries, and water in a quiet resting area. The approach is personal rather than polished: therapists introduce themselves, walk you through each step, and check in without hovering. For anyone arriving jet-lagged, sun-tired, or simply in need of a reset after days in the souks, the combination of honest technique and a well-priced menu makes Heritage Spa one of the more reliable independent hammams in the city.
