Overview
Les Jardins du Lotus occupies a 19th-century princely residence in the Dar El Bacha quarter, concealed at the end of a narrow derb where a valet signals you have arrived. Step through the door and the medina recedes entirely. A vast patio unfolds around a black and white marble checkerboard floor, with a square of orange trees at its centre, a pond flanked by towering cacti and living plant walls, and low lounges upholstered in powdery pinks and soft greens. The statement piece is a pink-arched bar crowned by an oversized chandelier, with a matching pink DJ booth overlooking the tiled pool. It looks nothing like a traditional riad, and that is precisely the point. The kitchen is run by Clarisse Jolicoeur, a Mexican-Canadian chef who brings her heritage to the plate with conviction. Panko and coconut shrimp tacos, beef tartare with truffle and smoked oil, tuna tostadas with spicy mayo, and cheese quesadillas with wild mushrooms sit alongside lobster rigatoni and caramelized octopus. The cooking is fresh, seasonal, and leaning healthy without being pious about it. Passion fruit pavlova and coconut tres leches close things out with the right amount of indulgence. By day, Les Jardins du Lotus works as a garden-wrapped lunch spot and cocktail bar, all dappled light and detox juices. By evening it becomes something else altogether. A resident DJ layers deep electro over the chatter, live musicians blend Gnawa rhythms with modern beats, and the space fills with a fashionable crowd that lingers well past dinner. Reservations are essential on weekends.
