Overview
Blue Ribbon occupies a converted shopfront inside an Art Deco arcade on Rue Mohammed el Beqal, tucked just far enough off the main Gueliz streets to feel like a find. A courtyard opens up behind the entrance, sheltered and quiet, where the mood sits somewhere between neighbourhood bakery and all-day cafe. The space blends original architectural details with a pared-back modern aesthetic, and the pace is unhurried enough that laptops share table space with long brunches. The bakery is the backbone. Sourdough, babka, shokupan, pretzels, and scones are baked in-house, and the quality here has made Blue Ribbon a reference point for anyone in Marrakech craving serious bread. The daytime menu extends to bagels, shakshuka, banh mi, grain-based salads, and grilled sandwiches, alongside specialty Arabica coffee and fresh juices. What sets it apart is the sourcing: nearly everything on the plate traces back to Sanctuary Slimane, a permaculture farm on the outskirts of the city. Organic produce, seasonal rhythm, and zero-waste thinking run through the operation without turning it into a lecture. A sister restaurant, Farmers, operates from the same address with a dinner-focused farm-to-table menu. Blue Ribbon itself is a daytime address. For breakfast, brunch, or a clean, well-sourced lunch in Gueliz, it is one of the most consistent options in the neighbourhood.
