Overview
Azur is the poolside restaurant at The Oberoi, Marrakech, set within 28 acres of citrus orchards, centuries-old olive groves, and landscaped gardens on the Route d'Ouarzazate. The setting alone justifies a visit: a frescoed dome covers the indoor dining area, while the open-air tables look out over the resort's pool, a grand canal water feature, and an unbroken line of Atlas Mountain peaks beyond the tree canopy. The menu is deliberately light. Crudos, salads, grilled dishes, and wraps arrive alongside cocktails, and the tone is one of long, sun-warmed afternoons spent between the pool and the table, where a clean ceviche or a crisp rosé feels exactly right. This is not a place for rich, layered Moroccan cooking; it is designed for ease and warmth, the kind of meal that lets the landscape do the work. The Oberoi's architecture draws on Arab-Andalusian tradition, its central courtyard modelled on the 14th-century Medersa Ben Youssef, and that sense of monumental calm extends to Azur's poolside setting. The restaurant is open to non-hotel guests through a day pool pass, making it one of the most elegant ways to spend a daytime escape on the outskirts of the city. Two sister restaurants share the property: Rivayat for Indian fine dining and Tamint for Mediterranean and Moroccan cuisine.
