Overview
Palais Riad Lamrani sits within the Mouassine quarter of the Medina, occupying a building of early twentieth-century construction in which carved zellige tilework, cedar ceilings, and ornate copper fixtures set the material register throughout. The six rooms comprise three thematic suites and three double bedrooms, each articulated through a distinct decorative identity: African, Oriental, and traditional Moroccan, the themes expressed through furniture, textiles, and the private art collection that runs through the property. What distinguishes the palais from the boutique riad category is the scale of its exterior: a 400-square-metre patio of landscaped garden surrounds a 50-square-metre pool, its shallow beach edge one of the very few pool configurations of this volume within the dense fabric of the old city. The hammam accommodates two persons simultaneously. Terraces above the main volume command views toward the tower of the Koutoubia Mosque and the ridgeline of the High Atlas beyond, a vantage point that few Medina properties can offer in every direction. The restaurant operates through most of the week, attracting guests from beyond the property and establishing the palais as a functioning part of the Mouassine district rather than a sealed enclave. Car access, rare in the tightly woven lanes of the Medina, is a practical attribute that the property's scale seems to require.
